fill in the blank friday!

it's friday! it's friday! IT'S FRIDAY!

the last couple of weeks have been killer and it will continue to be like this until July. DOH! now that i have no bf  in the way, all i do is work, workout and add a dash of social by chillin with friends. i'm finding it very difficult to make time for laundry. then again, who truly makes time for laundry? haha.

anyway, let's fill in some blanks! you can too! you can find friday blanks at Lauren's blog. be sure to show some love by linking up at the end of the fill in the blank friday posts.

have an awesome weekend everyone! hope you're not drowning in work as much as i am, but i do hope you're drowning in exercise like me! hehe. bikini season is almost here... well that's if mother nature can get her act straight.
1.   What I love most about my home is    my bed! it doesn't look like much, but damn, it's mad comfy! now if only i could actually sleep for longer periods of time...

2.  I'm excited because,    tomorrow is almost here! i will be attending a Kiehl's event which will be serving us cupcakes, refreshments and also giving us a $15 GC plus i still have to pick up my $50 GC because i'm a valued customer. i love Kiehl's products. it's probably the most consistent beauty brand i have in the bathroom. and their customer service is phenomenal.  afterwards, i get to hangout with my friend Chelle, her daughter Mila and her hubby Ben by eating BBQ, drinking beer, testing out a dessert goodie plus watching the Canucks game. awesome Saturday ahead!

3.  My preferred method for blowing off steam when I'm frustrated is     BODY JAM! i'm not about blowing off steam because my attitude all around is happy-go-lucky. i'm more about energy, laughing and smiling. jam makes me forget my worries and turns my frowns upside down. it's a dance exercise class that makes working out actually fun. all i want to do is go to the gym now. i'll even drive far to attend this exercise class. plus it works you out HARD, but you don't noticed you're working out hard because you're having a great time! i just blogged about this class last night. that's how much i love it!

4.  Currently I am craving   peanut butter oreos. sadly, they are not available in Canada. i think a road trip across the border is required soon!

5.  The thing I love most about my mom is     her kindness. she always puts others first even though she may not know them well. unfortunately, people do take advantage of her because she is last on her list, but she truly just cares for everyone, no matter who they are. unless they're a murderer or something like that.

6.  If I was going to write a book about my life, the title would be     "Almost Cougar Status" LOL! i'm turning 35 this year and still single. most of my friends are married with children. the book will be about my relationship escapades and coming to terms that it's very possible i won't find the man i want to be with.

7.  If I were to eat one thing for the rest of eternity it would be    all different kinds of french fries! potato, sweet potato, cassava. and don't forget all the jazzed up ones: poutine, tater's n cream (Lick's), fries animal style, fries supreme, etc. however, i would only want to eat fries for the rest of eternity as long as it didn't make me gain weight!

2011: what would i do differently?

just 2 more prompts left to go in the new year blog challenge, but unfortunately i can not finish today... i have yet to take a photo of myself this year. thanks again Reni for this fun challenge!

question 9...
what would i do differently this year?
i have one word for you. ME! i'm doing me this year! i'm focusing on me... doing what i want to do... putting me 1st... that's right! it's all about the selfish approach. not to worry, i'll still be doing everyone else too. but this time i've added me to the list. and i've added me to the top of the list!

prompt 10...
the last and final prompt of the new year challenge...
a photo of myself in 2011 (solo or with other people, things i love, etc.)
to be continued....
i'll probably get 26er to take a photo of me tomorrow when we go for sushi. we've decided to make sushi our regular Sunday staple. in the meantime, enjoy some 2010 photos...

my 1st "i'm not gonna lie" of 2011!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

i hope 2011 has been treating you good and it stays that way! new beginnings mean new opportunities and new opportunities are chances for great things. here's to great things happening for you and me this year!

this is my 1st blog post of 2011 and i thought a great way to start blogging this year is to kick off with an i'm not gonna lie blog post.

 so here it is...
i give you my 1st blog entry of the year...
my 1st i'm not gonna lie of 2011...

my new year started off SO GOOD, but ended TERRIBLY. i hate feeling so high and feeling so low all in the same day. i'm not gonna lie, i don't think my heart can it take anymore :(

i'm not gonna lie, it looks like mildly-crushing-on guy has been promoted to crushing-on guy. but due to his age we are now calling him 26er. big ups to my boy Randi for giving mildly-crushing-on guy his new nick name.

they say "time heals all". i'm not gonna lie, i think some things just never heal.

i'm not gonna lie, i'm pretty shocked my whole family is accepting of my cousin being gay. i'm not gonna lie, i didn't think they were so liberal.

i'm not gonna lie, 2 coworkers last month told me i say i'm not gonna lie very often.

i'm still not in the mood to see all my girls in one sitting. i'm not gonna lie, i'm still annoyed from the last time.

if you follow me on twitter, you may know i had a freakout attack just before Christmas. it was odd because the night leading to the freakout was such a fun night with my old skool boyz. expensive alcohol was ever-flowing free of charge and tasty snackies were at my finger tips. i was getting hit on left, right and centre from guys of all ages and also getting props for my personality. i was receiving compliments about everything and anything from strangers and my friends. it was such an ego boost at the time, i have no idea how my big head fit in the venue. any normal person would come home feeling high, but instead i was confused of why "the dude" has completely shut me out. once upon a time, it was so great (as such) and also so good (as this)... i'm not gonna lie, it upsets me so much that he has forgotten about it all. how can old skool and new skool people put me on a pedestal and the dude who i was actually in a relationship with have such a difference of opinion?

i'm not gonna lie, i think this blog post is pretty pathetic because it has a depressing tone to it. (way to start off the year on a positive note Maureen!) thumbs down to me! boooooo!

twas a SHOCKING Christmas...

my gaydar must be broken or maybe it's "off" or maybe i don't have gaydar, but i swear i used to and it was pretty good. so i thought.

i'm guessing by now, you have put 2 and 2 together of why i'm mentioning gaydar in a Christmas post... yup! i discovered one of my closest family members is gay.

and damn.
i had no idea.
i had no clue.

not that i have a problem with this. i just didn't see any leading indicators. i didn't see any plausible signs.

my younger cousin, who's also my godson, who had many girls eyeing and chasing him (and probably still does), the cousin who my good friend thinks is hot and crushed on, the one who i practically raised myself... that cousin is gay.

Christmas Eve was spent at his house sans the parents. it was just us kids. he lives with his bf. who i thought was his room mate. i too at his age (22 years old) moved out and lived with a room mate who was the same sex. so how would i know this was a sign?

i was forewarned earlier in the day which i mistaken as a joke. i was at a shopping mall with his little sister. this is how the conversation went down...

me: "does M have a girlfriend?"
K: "are you joking, Ate (pronounced at-tay)?" as she looked at me with a WTF look.
me: "huh? what are you talking about?"
K: "you're kidding, right Ate? you don't know?"
me: "know what?"
K: "but everyone knows, including mommy T... "
me: "huh? know what?" then gave it some thought... why would K think asking about M having a gf be odd?  "um is M gay?" now i have a matching WTF look.
K: "he lives with a guy... they have a dog together..."
me: "yea so? i lived with a girl for over 4 years downtown at his age. that doesn't mean i'm gay."
K: still glaring at me with a WTF look.
me: "you're joking, right?"
K: "yes Ate. i am."
at this point, i believed her sarcasm and said, "so does M have a girlfriend?"
this time K just responded with no words and just gave me a WTF look.

and that was that. the thought of M actually being gay didn't cross my mind again until we went to his house later that night. this is when i recalled the conversation with K and understood the tour of his new home would reveal the truth...

and then we received the tour of their 2 bedroom house appartment. which by the way is a very nice place. and there it was, staring at me straight in the face. him and J share the big bedroom, the 2nd bedroom is considered the guest bedroom.

yup, my cousin is gay.

not that i don't have a problem with it. i'm just shocked beyond disbelief.

day 10. me & the fam.

today's prompt for my 30 days:
a picture of me and my family.

i'm not gonna lie... i'm a little tipsy right now as i write this post. haha. funny how i hurried home to make sure i wrote this post in time.

top row from left to right: tita (auntie) Phoy, my mom, moi, my cousin Kyara
bottom row from left to right: tita Baby, my cousin TJ, tito (uncle) Boyet

the above photo is one of very few i have with family and was taken almost a year ago. unfortunately, i don't have a photo with my dad and / or my brother and / or sister. i think the last time i took a photo with them was over a decade ago.

i'm the middle child. i have a brother who is the oldest and have a sister who is 10 years younger than me. they both have 1 child, but my brother is the only one married. my parents are happy to finally be grandparents, so that should keep them occupied until i have children (in 10 years or so. j/k... i guess, but we'll see).

i love my family, but i'm not the best at expressing it. i've never been much of a home body and til this day, i'm still the same... floating around, staying away from home, trying to be somewhere to keep me away from being home alone. (i live on my own and at times the quiet does get to me, more often than it should.)

everyone in my family who's older seems to be going deaf so when i speak to them it sounds like i'm yelling, but really it's the only way they actually hear me! (haha typical asian family.)

but really, i do love them all and they treat me as though i'm the greatest! they're all pretty fricken awesome!!!
